RoughRiders Series One

The Frisco Rough Riders completed their first series Saturday night, and although they did not win the series, they played well. Let’s look at a few of the stars from the first series.

Game 1: 9-3 loss

Connor Sadzeck did not have a good start. One game a career does not wait. I look forward to seeing what he has to offer this team in 2017.

The rest of the pitching staff gave up no earned runs  (5 unearned), and David Ledbetter pitched 3 good innings.

Isiah Kiner-Falifa knocked in all three runs and looked inpressive. Juremi Profar went 2 for 4 with a run.

Game 2: 7-0 loss

Ariel Jurado gave up seven runs on eleven hits, and once again the bullpen was strong. The pen gave up no runs on just one hit. They pitched 4.2 innings of shut out baseball.

The offense spread eight hits over nine innings, but just couldn’t push any runs across.

Game 3: 10-2 win

Yohander Mendez was very good, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out four. He looked sharp and in control for most of the game. No runs given up by the bullpen again.

The offense came alive again, spearheaded by, you guessed it, Isiah Kiner-Falifa. He was two for four with two rbi and two runs, including a home run. In fact, five players including Kiner-Falifa had a two hit day, and center fielder Jose Cardona collected three hits.

The Roughriders finished the weekend by beginning a series against the Tulsa Drillers, and they once again lost the game.

Minor league baseball is a lot of fun to watch, and if you have never caught a game in Frisco, I highly recommend it. The Roughriders finish the homestand with two more against Tulsa before hitting the road later this week.
