As we get ready to kick off the 2017 minor league season, I thought I would take some time to profile some of the rising stars in the Rangers organization, focusing on Frisco. I thought that there was no better place to start that the six foot seven inch, 240 pound right hander Connor Sadzeck.
Sadzeck was with Frisco for the entire 2016 season, posting a 10-8 record with an ERA of 4.16. He struck out 133 while walking just 52. Connor gets the nod Thursday night as the opening day starter. According to Baseball Prospectus, Connor is
“quick off the mound with good rhythm…deep arm action; above average arm speed to a three-quarter slot; late drop with moderate drive…moderate effort delivery.”
He features a fastball (91-96), a curveball (74-77), and a change up (87-88). He has a dominating presence on the mound, being 6′ 7″. Sadzeck could get a call-up at some point in 2017, but as a bullpen candidate. For now, he will be the ace of the Rough Riders Staff. Tonight should be a whole lot of fun, and with the Rangers having the night off, you should treat yourself to the second opening day of the week. Tonight at 7:05 on FSSW Plus.
